Flood problems - stay at home

The emergency services are asking motorists to stay at home for the time being unless your journey is absolutely necessary.

Torrential rain and high winds have left many of the Island’s roads under water and the fire service, police and civil defence volunteers are all out on call to flooded properties.

The Met Office says localised flooding is likely and the rain is set to continue until at least this afternoon.

Avoid:
All Glens and Rivers (Silverburn burst banks)
Liverpool Arms
Peel Road at the Railway
Ballabeg & Colby
Lime Street, Port St Mary

Road closures:
Upper Pack Horse Lane
Cooil Road
Kentraugh Road
Kewaigue Road from Stone Bridge, Leigh Terrace to Fort North
Glen Darragh Road
Old Castletown Road
Ballacottier Roundabout
Knockeview (Orrisdale to St Marks)

A number of bus services are also affected by flooding. MER services between Laxey and Ramsey remain in operation but flooding at Groudle means services to Douglas are off. Steam Train bus replacements services have also been suspended.
