Food prices to rise after poor harvest

Food prices are likely to rise this winter.

That's the warning as harvests are completed following an exceptionally bad summer.

In the UK the National Farmers Union says wheat yields are down over 14% this year and at levels last seen in the 1980s.

Local farmer and presenter of Manx Radio's Countryside programme, John Kennaugh, says the Island is facing similar problems.

He adds that prices for many foodstuffs are bound to rise as there have been poor crops around the world
