Former commissioner forced to withdraw from election

Name still not on electoral register

A former commissioner who had to step down after it emerged her name wasn’t on the electoral list has withdrawn from a by-election: because she’s still not on it.

Rebecca Sinfield’s resignation sparked a by-election for her seat on Port St Mary commissioners, but despite submitting forms in August she couldn’t be added to the roll until October 1.

That deadline was too late for this election, and so she’s now had to withdrawn from the race.

She says she was desperately disappointed:
