Kurt Treite was based in Hutchinson camp
One of the oldest survivors of the Island's Second World War internment camps has died aged 95.
Kurt Treitel left Berlin as a teenager while conflict was breaking out in 1939, after being forced out of school and threatened with capture by the Gestapo.
Separated from his family, who had fled to the US, Kurt found himself placed in Hutchinson camp in Douglas until 1945, where he pursued further education.
By the 1960s he had become an eminent lawyer, and spent several years working for the UK Treasury.
In an article for The Guardian newspaper, his daughter Caroline said his 'good humour, courtesy and kindness will be missed by all who knew him'.
