Fund your own Manx movie!

There’s a chance to fund your own Manx film after an American website launched in the UK this week.

Kickstarter gives people the chance to fund projects posted online by others, and the producers of Longtails hope to raise the £12,000 they need for filming.

The movie, being put together by Elizabeth Arends and Richard Sanderson, is described as a film noir which will be shot on the Isle of Man.

But the £12,000 has to be pledged by the start of next month– and so far only a few people have signed up.

Pledging £5 will get you on the film’s mailing list, while £10 backers get a digital download of the finished product.

Meanwhile £150 pledges will get tickets to premieres in the Isle of Man and London, but if you’re particularly flush and give more than £3,000 you’ll be named in the credits as an associate producer.

Kickstarter – a so-called crowdfunding website – will only take the money off you if the film reaches its funding target my midday on December 3.

You can find out more details by going to kickstarter.com and searching for “longtails”.
