Long-term dispute unresolved
Leaseholders at the Cherry Orchard, who are owed almost £90,000, face uncertainty after it was announced a large part of the complex is to close.
Yesterday (Monday) the hotel company, which includes management of the restaurant, Chequers bar and function suites, ceased trading - 25 employees lost their jobs.
Graham Jones, a spokesperson for the leaseholders, says it's unclear what impact this will have on a long-running dispute between residents and owners of the site, Robert and Ian Gillings.
In 2014 they were ordered by a tribunal to pay residents £89,000 pounds after overcharging for services - the matter has yet to be resolved.
