Government assessing UK data before move to Level 2

Exit strategy proposes further border changes on Saturday

The health minister says it is the right time for the Island's borders to move from Level 3 to Level 2.5.

Isolation requirements for people travelling to the Isle of Man change today.

It introduces the option of leaving self-isolation within 48 hours of arrival, subject to a negative Covid-19 test.

It applies to those whose movements have been restricted to the UK, Guernsey or Jersey for at least 10 days prior to travel to the Island.

People who have been outside the British Isles within 10 days of coming to the Island will have to follow a 7 day pathway with tests within 48 hours of arrival and on day 6. They will also be excluded from visiting health and care settings unless in an emergency.

With a further move to Level 2 scheduled on the exit strategy for Saturday (29 May), David Ashford says the Council of Ministers is 'continuously assessing' the UK situation:

It follows concerns over the spread of the India variant of coronavirus, despite a recent study finding both doses of either the Pfizer or Oxford/ Astrazeneca vaccine offered protection against the strain.

The document does stress the proposed dates are subject to change.

A move to Level 2 would allow more non-residents to travel to the Island.

Meanwhile, it's hoped that the Isle of Man will achieve unrestricted travel, within the British Isles, by 28 June.
