Gov't continues running Villa-Gaiety

Local partners sought to expand

Government is seeking local partners to expand the commercial operation of the Villa-Gaiety entertainment complex.

That's according to Minister for Economic Development Lawrence Skelly.

Government will continue to operate the site after no expressions of interest were made during an outsourcing exercise.

Mr Skelly was answering questions on future plans for the arts complex by MHK Bill Shimmins during yesterday's sitting of the House of Keys.

In a supplementary question, Mr Shimmins queried whether civil servants were best placed to run bars, theatres and a children's soft play area

The DED Minister responded that other options are now being considered.
