Health minister to be quizzed over parliamentary language

18 questions are expected to be answered by the Council of Ministers

The health and social care minister will be asked to explain comments he made in relation to the Health Services Consultative Committee today (26 March).

Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas is bringing forward a motion in the House of Keys after Lawrie Hooper accused the committee of 'lying' in a report it published.

Mr Hooper will be asked about assertions he made about its findings in October last year.

Mr Thomas has also tabled questions about the HSCC including one about potential inaccuracies in the annual report as well as recruitment to the board.

He also wants to know more about data collected by the Housing and Communities Board of which he was formerly the chair.

Questions

Backbench MHKs have tabled 18 questions in total on a variety of topics.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse has one starred priority question to start the sitting, which asks for statistics of people who've died by suicide in each of the last five years.

He also asks about the regularity with which the economic dashboard is updated.

This is followed by queries on Jersey's goods and services tax and if the Isle of Man Treasury has looked at the potential income locally.

Douglas South MHK Claire Christian has a question about Royal Assent for the Vaping Bill and Douglas North's David Ashford is expected to quiz the Department of Infrastructure to ask when an assessment of the Island's roads was last carried out.
