Law reversing current opt-in system will create awareness
It's hoped wider conversations surrounding organ donation will start to be tackled when Daniels Law comes into effect in 2024.
Currently, it's an opt-in system, but the law will reverse that meaning you'll be required to opt-out.
Diane Taylor lost her son Daniel but says the first time they'd had the conversation about organ donation was when medical staff spoke to them in the intensive care unit as their son had passed away.
She hopes lives will be saved:
An annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for those whose lives have been affected by organ donation and transplant is scheduled for 3 December at St. George's church in Douglas from 14.30.
