Hopes Island can get to March without need for 'legal interventions'

Covid-19 winter framework published

Government says it aims to get to March next year without the need for 'widespread legal interventions'.

Instead it wants to encourage everyone to take individual, and collective, responsibility to protect each other, the NHS and the Island's way of life.

It's published its Living with Covid-19 winter framework.

It says the winter months do present an increased set of risks meaning protection against the virus is 'reduced'.

The plan covers three levels of response:

  • Level 1: Collective responsibility
  • Level 2: Increased national mitigations
  • Level 3: Legal interventions

Government says the level three response 'must be available' although it is hoped that implementation will not be required.

The decision to reach this level would be based on:

  • The health and care services are in danger of being overwhelmed
  • A new variant of concern threatens the vaccine efficacy or
  • There is significant level of disruption to the Island’s economic and social infrastructure

The current situation continues to be monitored on a daily basis and government says there are a number of mechanisms for considering and advising on the pandemic response.

A new National Covid Response Group for improved decision making which includes representation from the Emergency Advisory Group has been established.

You can find the plan HERE.
