Estate agent reports huge increase in sales

Census results might show a decline in the Island's population, but the housing market is seeing a surge in demand - according to one property expert.

The latest Isle of Man Census painted the picture of a declining working age demographic - with 2,000 people leaving the Island between 2011 and 2016.

However, Black Grace Cowley's Residential director Tim Groves says house sales are on the up, regardless of the change - particularly in the under £500,000 bracket.

The company has seen what it calls a 'huge increase in sales' over the last six to nine months, with sellers achieving results close to their asking price.

Mr Groves says he's been talking to a number of his competitors, and other vendors, that say they're seeing the same level of success in the market:
