Hyperbaric Chamber closure could be lengthy

Trust apologises for inconvenience caused

The Manager of the Island's Hyperbaric Chambers says the facility could be shut for quite a while.

It was announced this morning that the chambers are to be temporarily out of use, after problems were identified with the units during their daily inspection.

The Kevin Gray Memorial Trust has had to suspend patient appointments and treatment of diving accidents until the matter is resolved.

Dean Cooke says they had suspected there was a problem for some time and components have now been sent off-island for inspection. The downtime is also being used to address any updates and refurbishment which might have been required in the near future.

The Trust has apologised for any inconvenience caused and say they aim to get the facility back in operation as soon as possible.
