Inquest hears of man's mental health troubles

A mother has told an inquest that the Island's mental health services should have given her son more protection.

Thirty-five-year-old Chris Burrows was found in June 2011 at his home on Main Road, Onchan, where he had hanged himself.

The inquest has heard he took his own life after a long struggle with mental health issues.

He suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome, which made him depressed and meant he'd stopped eating.

His mother gave evidence, saying care supplied by the Island's mental health services was insufficient.

She said Christopher attempted to take his life four days before his death and more should have been done to protect him.

The inquest continues.
