Roads Policing Unit begins annual winter vehicle checks

There could be serious consequences for those who drive cars not fit for the road this winter.

That's according to the Island's Roads Policing Unit as it begins its annual winter vehicle checks.

Officers will stop drivers in various parts of the Island making sure different modes of transport are up to scratch, with offences being dealt with on the roadside.

The annual campaign aims to educate people about the risks that come with driving an unfit car, particularly in winter conditions.

Sergeant Mike Taylor from the RPU hopes this gets people into the habit of checking their vehicles:

A guide on what to look out for when checking your vehicle will be put on the Roads Policing Unit's social media pages.
