York consecration service for Peter Eagles
The Island’s new Lord Bishop should be in post this autumn.
The Venerable Peter Eagles became Bishop of Sodor and Mann at a consecration service today at York Minster.
The ceremony led by the Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu was shared with Dr Peter Wilcox who was ordained Bishop of Sheffield.
A strong Manx contingent was in the cathedral to witness the start of a new era for the Christian church in the Isle of Man.
Lord Bishop Peter Eagles will be enthroned at Peel cathedral when he takes up the role on-Island later this year.
After today's consecration, he said he's looking forward to starting work:
Planning application for onshore wind farm still being developed
Motorcyclist suffered fatal chest injuries in crash
Trial for trio accused of producing Class A drugs to Island
Too early for 'direct action' over cost-of-living concerns says chief minister
