Douglas welcomes environment ministers

Sustainability and climate change on agenda

Environment Ministers from the UK’s overseas territories and crown dependencies are gathered on the Island this morning (Tuesday).

The Villa Marina in Douglas is hosting the third Council of Environment Ministers over the next two days.

Hosted jointly by the Island’s Environment Minister Geoffrey Boot and Professor John Cortés, his Gibraltar equivalent, delegates are discussing a wide range of issues, including the challenges posed by Brexit.

They’re also focused on sustainability, climate change, the impact of natural disasters on ecosystem services, environmental resilience and the Island’s designation as the first entire nation UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
