Unanimously voted in by the Council
John Joughin has been unanimously voted in by Douglas Borough Council as the town's mayor for the year ahead.
During a private meeting, members selected Mr Joughin, who serves Victoria Ward, and as vice-chairman of the authority's pensions and environmental services committees.
He was nominated by Councillor McNicholl, who said Mr Joughin always 'applies himself with great dedication' to serve the Douglas community, and has wished both him, and his wife Angela every success.
Mr Joughin, who's previously been a Douglas East MHK, is 'pleased and honoured' to be appointed, and said he will endeavour to represent the town in the best possible manner.
