Keynote speech on ME being given on Island

Visit raises hopes for CFS understanding

A keynote talk on ME, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is being given in the Island today (16 Sept).

Organisers say the visit of Dr Charles Shepherd, advisor to the ME Association in England, could trigger long-term improvement in future services for the Island's 350 sufferers.

An ME sufferer and a former GP, Dr Shepherd will advise patients on how to manage their condition - and discuss new research.

Tomorrow (17 Sept) he'll be joined by two ME experts from Liverpool, to give Island GPs a full afternoon's training.

Celia Marshall runs the ME Isle of Man Support Group.

She says the event is a 'must do' for all touched by the condition

Dr Shepherd's public presentation is at 1pm this lunchtime at Onchan Methodist Church. All are welcome.
