Lloyds staff and climate change on Keys agenda

25 questions as members meet this morning

The House of Keys will hear a statement from the Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson today.

It's included on the order paper and will be delivered after 25 Keys questions. Two are matters of urgent concern which have been added on late in the day.

The sitting will begin at 10am - you can listen live to questions via Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency.

Also today the Climate Change Bill is due to get its third reading before going to Legislative Council and the Competition Bill goes to its clauses stage.

Legislative Council is discussing two of Garff MHK Martyn Perkins' Private Member's Bills.

The Human Tissue and Organ Donation Bill is at clauses stage while the Sky Lanterns Bill gets its first reading.

The first urgent questions comes from Douglas East MHK Chris Robertshaw - he's seeking more details about the position, during covid, of Steam Packet crews.

The second urgent question comes from Douglas South MHK Claire Christian, who is calling for more information about how government is helping banking staff who have been made redundant.

Mrs Christian has permission to quiz the Enterprise Minister this morning as part of an urgent question in the House of Keys.

She wants to know how many banking businesses the department has contacted which have previously chosen not to proceed on Island due to lack of available staff.

Last week Lloyds announced it was cutting around 120 jobs on the Isle of Man.

Mrs Christian wants to know if prospective businesses have been advised there is now ‘a pool’ of people available locally who are out of work.
