Manx Care reminds staff of social media policy following petition

Petitioner claims staff are being threatened for 'voicing their concerns'

Manx Care has confirmed it's reminded all of its staff of the policy and rules around social media and electronic communications which they are expected to follow.

It comes after a petition was started, by a former employee, calling for Chief Executive Teresa Cope to resign.

The petitioner - who also set up the 'Save our Health Services' Facebook page - claims the health body has 'warned staff' not to sign the document and they've been threatened with dismissal for 'voicing their concerns'.

In response a Manx Care spokesperson said: "All Isle of Man government departments, including Manx Care, are subject to the same policy governing these matters: the Isle of Man Government Electronic Communications and Social Media: Standards and Guidelines policy dated September 2015.

"Manx Care put out an internal reminder to all staff on 22 August 2024 reminding them of the policy and the rules which all employees are expected to follow."
