Manx Petroleum depot callout for fire service

Alarm and sprinklers set off

An alarm going off at the Manx Petroleums depot on South Quay in Douglas prompted an emergency services turnout this morning, but it proved to be a false one.

Crews from Douglas fire station were called to the scene at around 11am.

The alarm and sprinklers went off after a flame detector covering the fuel gantry had activated, which automatically sets off water drenching systems.

Crews remained on site for about 30 minutes while the sprinkler and fire alarm systems were re-set.
