Marine protected areas justified by TV documentary says Chief Minister

A TV programme taking a closer look at the Island’s seabed has been hailed a success by the Chief Minister.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall went diving off Port Erin Bay, assessing a Marine Protected Area and comparing it to areas which have been dredged for scallops.

Allan Bell said the Channel Four show was a positive showcase and justified government’s work in preserving fishing stocks and developing conservation sites.
