May sentence for four men involved in 'violent' street fight

Witness thought one of group was at risk of serious injury or death

Four men who were involved in a ‘violent’ street fight in Douglas will be sentenced next month.

Joshua Turner and Harry Davies, of West View in Peel, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where they pleaded guilty to affray.

Piotr Pawel Krawczyk and Joseph Paul Doyle, of Ballaughton Park and Ballaughton Meadows in Douglas, also admitted committing the offence.

On 25 February Turner, who is 26-years-old, and Davies, who is 27-years-old, were outside 1886 Bar and Grill on Regent Street.

They were involved in a disagreement with other members of the public when 44-year-old Krawczyk and 49-year-old Doyle intervened.

Davies was said to ‘square up to them’ and a fight started between all four; the court heard Krawczyk and Doyle kicked Davies multiple times with ‘extreme force’.

A witness at the scene told police they were concerned the Peel man – who sustained a fractured eye socket - was at risk of serious injury or death.

Describing it as a ‘serious example of affray’ Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told all four men they would be sentenced in the summary court.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before that takes place on 21 May; all have been bailed until that date.
