More than 30 years after the death of racing legend Mike Hailwood, a Douglas man will be involved in a commemoration today (24 March) marking his achievement.
Chris Smith will be among hundreds of motorcyclists taking part in an annual memorial run for the TT star, based near his former home in Birmingham.
After a career spanning 20 years, which included nine World Championships, 76 Grand Prix wins and 14 TT victories, Hailwood was killed in March 1981 in a road accident which also claimed the life of his daughter Michelle.
Chris says his famous winning TT return in 1978 after 11 years out of the races, remains the stuff of legend:
Island's finances 'in a better position than most other jurisdictions'
Completion of assisted dying bill 'the most significant moment of 2025'
Keep dogs away from Garwick Beach for next few days
Cost of sending a letter on the Island to increase in January
