MHK calls for Senior Race Day to be moved back to June

But enterprise minister says no

This year’s Senior Race Day bank holiday will not be moved back to its original date.

That’s despite suggestion that having two bank holiday weekends – one in June and one in August - would be more beneficial to the local economy.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse raised the issue in the House of Keys.

The four day ‘Super Manx’ bank holiday weekend will start on Friday 27 August.

He says the decision to move the holiday was made when the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix were still expected to go ahead:
