Elizabeth Shimmin faces criticism over Facebook post following death of US activist Charlie Kirk
An MHK has criticised a Ramsey Commissioner after she wrote on Facebook that Charlie Kirk should "burn in hell" in response to a tribute.
Stu Peters described Elizabeth Shimmin's remarks as "ignorant, crass, insensitive, provocative and totally unnecessary."
Charlie Kirk - a prominent right-wing figure and close ally of Donald Trump - was shot dead on Wednesday while speaking at a university event in Utah.
Ms Shimmin was elected to Ramsey Town Commissioners in April, and currently serves as Lead Member for Parks and Leisure and Deputy of the Housing and Property Committee.
Vice-Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea told Manx Radio: "We are aware of the matter, enquiries are ongoing and we will update in due course."
Ms Shimmin has been approached for comment.
