MHK seeks 'opt out' organ donor law

Reversing system will save lives

A Garff MHK says it's important to get legislation underway which would see Islanders 'opt out' rather than opt in to donating their organs.

Martyn Perkins was yesterday given leave to introduce a private members bill in the House of Keys (31 Oct), which would see a system of 'presumed consent' put in place for all organ transplants.

Mr Perkins is eager to see his bill progress, as he thinks government's draftsmen will soon be preoccupied with Brexit legislation.

One to support Mr Perkins was Ramsey MHK and medical professional Dr Alex Allinson.
