Minimum wage to rise

Politicians support 4.7 per cent increase

The minimum wage in the Isle of Man is to go up by 4.7%, to £7.85 an hour.

The move will come into effect on October 1st this year.

It's after Tynwald members unanimously approved the rise during this evening's sitting. 

Two age categories are also being moved, so everyone 18 years old and above will now get the full rate, barring those still at school. 

Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas says the living wage will be reviewed and likely raised later this year as well:
