Mixed feelings from Manx businesses allowed to reopen

Some Island services given the green light to open from 1 June

A number of businesses are preparing to adapt how they run, so they can reopen in-line with new government guidelines.

However there's concern from some that the relaxation of certain coronavirus measures is too soon.

From 1 June, cafes and restaurants will be able to open 'outdoor areas' to customers, provided it's safe to do so.

Sarah Giummri from The Forge in Santon says they're comfortable with that timeline, and are busy preparing to reopen their outdoor food service:

On the same day, the chief minister announced 'lifestyle businesses' such as hairdressers, barbers, tattoo parlours and beauticians could reopen if they feel it's safe to do so.

Karen Jones from Ramsey salon Sun and Beauty, and says some in her sector are worried that the very nature of their work is at odds with the latest guidelines:
