New alphabet book launched by Culture Vannin

Brainchild of local illustrator, Vicky Webb

Culture Vannin has produced a striking new language resource, accessible to all - from those with lots of Manx, to those who have none.

'A Manx Alphabet' is a short pamphlet, aimed predominantly at young children or non-Manx-speaking adults, to give them a flavour of Gaelg.

It's a 24-letter alphabet, though, with the letters 'X' and 'Z' not existing in the Manx language!

The book comes with a full pronunciation guide and translation for all the terms.

It's the brainchild of the illustrator, local Mum Vicky Webb.

She says she "wanted something which would help her daughter grow up with a sense of place".

It's been illustrated loosely in the style of Eric Carle's 'The Hungry Caterpillar', with words chosen using the advice of the Bunscoill Ghaelgagh.
