New count system used for PSM by-election

Cabinet Office hope to have it rolled out for local elections next year

A new voting count system was introduced at the Port St Mary Commissioner's by-election this week. 

It's called a 'kangaroo' - the papers are layered in between a piece of clear plastic, votes are counted in a row and tallied at the end of the board.

Frank Carolan, Head of Crown and Elections at the Cabinet Office hopes the new approach will be rolled out at more elections:
