New Island probation rehabilitation centre named

Tromode House to replace David Gray House this autumn

Tromode House has been named as the replacement for a rehabilitation centre for offenders.

It's after the announcement that David Gray House, run by the Salvation Army, is to close.

Government says the Community Rehabilitation Centre is to open this autumn - run by the Isle of Man Probation Service.

The decision has been made, government says, after a 'lengthy' consulation with the Salvation Army.

The charity is to decommission the probation hostel after the transition on 30 September.

Tromode House, which is owned by the government, used to be a children's home. It's now been refurbished to accomodate 12 residents - David Gray House took up to nine.
