New Southern 100 Club president elected

Phil Taubman and George Peach

Derek Nicholson's replacement named

The new president of the Southern 100 Club has been voted in.

Phil Taubman MBE, who's been chairman of the club since 2002, was elected unanimously at the club's Annual General Meeting this week.

He replaces the late Derek Nicholson, who held the position from 2002 until his death in July last year, just before the Southern 100.

Mr Taubman, along with his life-long friend Gordon Clague, were involved with the original running of the race meeting in 1955 as young lads, helping to build the course by doing things like putting out straw bales.

He was also clerk of the course at the Billown Circuit between 1977 and 2015.
