He pleaded guilty to a charge of drink-driving
An Onchan drink-driver has been banned from the roads for five years after a court heard he’d already served a ban for drug-driving.
Twenty-seven-year-old Thammadon Hill of Howstrake Drive appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted drink-driving on 27 December.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the court police on patrol spotted Hill as he drove along Douglas Promenade towards Onchan at around 4am.
After seeing him veer across the road and clip a kerb, officers pulled him over on Summerhill Road and arrested him when they smelled alcohol.
At police headquarters, he turned out to be one and a half times over the legal alcohol limit.
Defence advocate Steve Wood told the court Hill had gone out drinking after his relationship broke down over Christmas.
Noting Hill had previously been banned for driving whilst unfit through cannabis, Mrs Hughes handed him a five-year ban as well as fining him £1,500 and ordering him to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
