The environmental group Friends of the Earth is calling for the Manx Electricity Authority to use more renewable energy sources instead of burning fossil fuels.
On Manx Radio’s Perspective programme last night, chairman of the MEA Quintin Gill said, although a Tynwald policy had been adopted on renewables, his priority was to supply efficient and cheap electricity.
But Friends of the Earth spokesman Phil Corlett says he would like to see much more use made of wind and wave generators, and his organisation is asking people to sign up to an online campaign asking the MEA to go green:
Post Office to raise letter prices and bring in stamp expiry dates
