Outlawing legal highs, campaign launched

A major campaign about the dangers of legal highs has been launched in the Isle of Man, just days after two deaths from mephedrone in the UK.

Legislation making the importation and sale of the drug has been rushed through Tynwald in response to public concern about the stimulant, also known as plant food.

The campaign aims to teach members of the public about the risks of legal highs and also about services available to drug users looking to quit.

On Manx Radio's Talking Heads programme, member with responsibility for the Drug and Alcohol Strategy, Bill Malarkey, said the Manx Government's response has been very expedient.
