Civil Defence called out to set up camp beds for stranded visitors
Some passengers stranded after yesterday's fog impacted flights at Ronaldsway have had to sleep on camp beds at the airport overnight.
Civil Defence Isle of Man says hundreds were left needing accommodation after their flights were unable to depart.
Civil Defence says that at any other time of the year, there would be options for accommodation when visitors are impacted by such travel disruption, but during TT options are limited.
Visit Isle of Man worked to find available hotel rooms or sailings for some of those affected, including with an appeal on social media for Manx residents to open up their homes to stranded visitors.
While some were able to return to their accommodation and locals went home, Civil Defence was needed to set up camp beds and bedding at Ronaldsway for those with nowhere else to go.
Bus Vannin helped transport some passengers to Douglas, while the Castletown Civic Centre was opened up to help accommodate the initial high number of stranded passengers.
Civil Defence says it hopes this is the only night of disruption for the TT, but that its volunteers will be ready to turn out again if needed.
Just one TT race scheduled following further delay
