The first barge of marine infill being used in the second phase of the Isle of Man Airport runway extension project is due to arrive in the next week.
The material comes from a dredging area in the Irish Sea, between Douglas and Cumbria.
The infill will take up to two months to complete.
Originally the Department of Transport had planned to use infill from Mersey Bay.
However, Transport Minister David Anderson says the new source has many benefits:
Pothole claims cost department thousands
Increase in scarlet fever on the Island
Government 'neglecting' heritage assets across the Island
Motiv8: 'We will never reach all the children on the Isle of Man'
