Committee to investigate all options to keep service
The Island's vintage horse tram service may yet have a reprieve.
That's after the House of Keys agreed to set up a committee to assess all options to retain the historic service in one form or another.
On Friday, it was revealed Douglas Corporation would cease running the 140 year-old operation as it was no longer 'financially viable'.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft brought the motion saying the loss of horse trams would hit hoteliers and other tourism businesses in the pocket and called for 'cool heads', saying the service could be run by another entity.
Mrs Beecroft told the House she's happy that all opportunities to save the service will now be explored . .
