Post Office rejects offer of talks ahead of strike action

CWU confirms move as negotiator arrives back on Island

The Communication Workers' Union has confirmed that the IOM Post Office has rejected an offer for "meaningful" talks ahead of proposed industrial action this week.

Deputy General Secretary Postal, Terry Pullinger, says the union had written to the Post Office last week offering talks and had accepted an offer from the IOM Industrial Relations Officer to facilitate the talks.

However, the IOM Post Office has declined, as they believe there was no point until Tynwald had made a decision on pensions and the move from six days to five for letter deliveries.

The issue is due to be discussed at tomorrow's sitting of the court (Tues 11th Dec)

Mr Pullinger, who arrived back on the Island this morning (Mon), says he finds this approach 'hugely concerning'
