Post Office rejects union's claims

Talks ongoing, says chair

Isle of Man Post Office says it strongly refutes Communication Workers' Union claims it has rejected the opportunity to have ‘meaningful’ talks.

The Post Office says it had both written and verbal dialogue with the CWU yesterday (Sunday) and agreed to a day-long round of 'intense negotiation talks' to take place Wednesday.

It adds that ongoing discussions with the CWU on job evaluation, which is one aspect of the proposals, have taken place today (Monday) and continue to do so.

Post Office Chair Julie Edge MHK says, "We wish to avoid this week’s planned strike action and the disruption this will have on our valued customers, especially at our busiest time of the year.

"We are optimistic that by the end of the day on Wednesday, we will have a way forward.

"We are disappointed that the CWU has claimed we have rejected the offer of talks when they are already ongoing.

"It is completely untrue."
