Primary School STEM Days at Family Library

The RAF and Lego team with the winning pupils from St Mary's School in Douglas

Primary schools from across the Island have spent several days building Lego robots and then using technology to make them move.

The sessions were being run by the Royal Air Force as part of its STEM outreach programme with children from a number of primary schools  joining in and having a great time at the Douglas Family Library.

Pupils spent the first part of each session designing and building Lego robots. The plan was that the robots were to be used in "humanitarian aid roles in hard-to-access locations."

After some product testing and improvements, the children learnt to code the robots using iPads before sending them on their way.
