Prison death inquest to resume

An inquest into the death of an inmate at Jurby prison almost two years ago is set to resume at Douglas courthouse this morning (Monday).

The body of 26-year-old Michael Joseph Davidson was found in his cell on the morning of March 13, 2012.

When the inquest opened in April that year, it heard attempts were made to revive him, but they were unsuccessful.

It was also told the cause of death was yet to be established and the results of toxicology reports were awaited.

The inquiry will resume at 10am today and could last up to three weeks.

A jury will first need to be selected, standard practice for inquests into deaths in custody.
