Prom scheme will be on budget says Minister

Works should get underway "as soon as possible"

The Island's Infrastructure Minister has assured the public that redevelopments to Douglas Promenade will be delivered on-budget and to their needs.

Phil Gawne believes that the proposed works should get underway as soon as possible, and must not exceed the estimated 21 million pound cost to the taxpayer.

His comments follow the latest round of public consultation on the plans.

Changes outlined include relocating the iconic horse tram lines to a widened seaside walkway.

Plans for new traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings for vulnerable people have also been put forward.
