Providing fossil fuels won't affect climate change action

Professor Curran insists extracting gas won't stop net zero carbon emissions

A key figure in the Island's climate change action plan believes the government can still reach its targets - even if it begins extracting gas from Manx waters.

An emergency was declared in May amid a series of protests inspired by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

Professor James Curran is the man charged with taking the Isle of Man to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

He says achieving that aim is still possible if we start providing fuels such as oil and gas.
