Public Health insists tick-borne encephalitis risk is low

Disease confirmed in the UK for the first time

Public Health Isle of Man says the risk an illness carried by ticks poses to the general public is low.

Cases of tick-borne encephalitis have been confirmed in the south of England.

It's the first time the disease, which can cause damage to the brain, has been recorded in the UK.

The Manx authority insists this condition is rare, and the risk is considered low.
