Pulrose motorist has car seized after dangerous overtake

45-year-old was disqualified and had no insurance

A Pulrose motorist has avoided an immediate jail sentence after admitting dangerous driving on the Mountain Road.

Forty-five-year-old Richard William Miller, of Alder Road, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he admitted driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and having no insurance

On 3 August last year two motorists dialled 999 to report that a black Mini had overtaken them, into the path of an oncoming car, narrowly avoiding a crash.

The incident happened at Hillberry as Miller overtook three vehicles - a car came around a bend and he had to accelerate to complete the manoeuvre, forcing the other car to brake sharply.

Police began looking for the Mini in Ramsey and soon found Miller on Bowring Road.

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks said he had an awful record of driving offences as well as a history of breaching court orders.

Miller was banned from the roads for two years, placed on probation for two years and handed a 26-week jail term suspended for two years.

Mr Brooks also ordered his car be seized.
