Ramsey Bakery directors to 'assist in any way possible' in company's final weeks

Closure coming despite 'constructive meeting' with DEFA

The Directors of Ramsey Bakery say they had a 'very constructive' meeting with the Minister and Chief Executive Officer of DEFA yesterday and will assist in any way possible in its last few weeks of trading.

The Manx company, which is to close at the end of April after 50 years, has thanked everyone who's shared their sadness, gratitude and support since the announcement at the weekend.

There had been questions over whether or not the closure could be pushed back, or even prevented, with government intervention.

But in a statement on social media Ramsey Bakery says it will 'pull out all the stops' to keep serving the Island over the next few weeks:

Replying to Ramsey Bakery's post, Robinson's Fresh Foods said: "Thank you for your incredible tireless commitment to our supply chain Ramsey Bakery, friendship & loyalty over the many many years & we wish you all the best."

Ellan Vannin Fuels commented: "Massive thanks from the team at EVF over the years and all the best to the family and team as know this wont have been an easy decision."
