Work on the Ramsey swing bridge is going well - but it's not going to be open in time for the Ramsey Sprint next Tuesday.
So says the Department of Infrastructure which reported in February that 20 iron wheels within the bridge mechanism were an inch undersized and needed to be re-engineered.
It had originally been hoped the bridge would be open in time for TT, but this delay put the work back. Residents have expressed concern that there will only be limited pedestrian use during one of the busiest days of the year in the town.
It's hoped to make up time on the scheme after TT by combining the remaining engineering work with painting the structure.
But Director of Ports, Anne Reynolds, says it does mean only very limited use of the bridge will be possible during the Sprint
